Jammu, 15.12.2025: Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ) has questioned the intentions of the government with regard to its policies for youth in general and for Jammu province in particular.
In a statement issued to the media, JKHCBAJ raised serious concerns over what they termed as the government’s anti-youth and anti-Jammu policies. In a meeting of Office Beareres including President Nirmal K. Kotwal, Vice President Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Mahajan and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal, it was noted that earlier, the issue of age relaxation in JKPS examinations, over which students were protesting across Jammu and Kashmir, was left unresolved, and no concrete action was taken. Thereafter, the long-pending demand of the youth of Jammu for the establishment of a National Law University Jammu and Kashmir in Jammu was ignored, as the university was announced to be set up in Budgam district of Kashmir province, shattering the aspirations of students from Jammu. Now, once again, when a football team from Jammu and Kashmir was to be sent for the Santosh Trophy, the Sports Council failed to select even a single player from Jammu province out of 74 shortlisted candidates, whereas all 20 players were selected from Kashmir province, where only 24 players were shortlisted, that too without conducting proper trials.
JKHCBAJ further stated that discrimination against Jammu has been continuing for several decades. Despite Jammu having 43 elected MLAs, a Deputy Chief Minister, and two Cabinet Ministers including the Sports Minister, the region continues to face discrimination and neglect. The people of Jammu had high expectations from the elected MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who have consistently claimed to represent the interests of Jammu. However, it is deeply disappointing that even they have failed to stand up for the region.
Condemning the government’s anti Jammu approach, JKHCBAJ emphasized that the time has come for the government to seriously think for youth and their future in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Jammu province.
